Caterpillar Symbolism & Meaning...  The Caterpillar Totem Animal

"Caterpillar holds the grand dream of becoming all that it can be, with no limitations, it reaches out to become it greatest expression of self, spirit and soul. Putting everything aside, it follows the drive to evolve.  Caterpillar teaches us to do the same, to find our power to transform in deep meditation, to go into the cocoon and emerge as a greater aspect of self. . . believing in the possibilities that with faith all things great and small are possible, and to remember that the grand and beautiful things have very humble beginnings". ~ Presley Love

Caterpillar Symbolism and the Journey to See Your Future Self

Caterpillar spirit animal teaches a similar story of the Swan and Butterfly, the story is one of the need for sacred surrender.   The story comes to us from the Medicine Cards, which says that "in the Native American traditions, from the Mayan to the Cheyenne, there is a story of a swan that tells a dragonfly that he has learned to surrender his body to the power of spirit and was taken to where the future lives. He saw many wonders high on sacred mountains and because of his faith and his acceptance he has been changed. He has learned to accept the state of grace".

The Caterpillar takes us on a journey to see our future lives, and then turning to a path of deep introspection, in spiritual retreat we seek to set upon a new path to bring the life of the future self into being.

We desire complete and total transformation to be the aspect of our higher soul self in physical manifestation, in this life.

Caterpillar totem animal asks us; What joys could we bring to the world if we were our higher selves in this dimension and time?  What elations could we experience?  What gifts could we bring to the world?  What healing could happen within and without, and what would the ripple effect be?

It is said that the fluttering of a Butterfly's wings in China can effect the winds on the other side of the world, this is the "Butterfly effect"... this is the ripple effect.  That one small thing, or one small change can effect all things, just as quantum science teaches us that even every thought is felt throughout the entire Universe.

Caterpillar Symbolism and Humble Beginnings

The Caterpillar emerges into life with very humble beginnings.  But the destiny is grand beyond imagination.  I wonder, does the Caterpillar imagine of what it will become?  To be gloriously beautiful, with wings of colorful array, capturing the awe of all who gaze upon it?  The magic of the Butterfly is born through the Caterpillar.

This is the wisdom that Caterpillar has come to share with you....

Regardless of your humble beginnings, all that you desire is reaching back to you, desiring fulfillment through you.

Caterpillar moves slowly, enjoying the moment, not so very concerned with much other than eating to get the nutrients it needs to grow.  Of what it is to become, it may not know, but it knows it needs nourishment and sustenance to carry it through a time of great change.  A profound change is on the way, one that requires much preparation.  For new beginnings, also tap into the power of the Robin.

The Deep Urging of the Caterpillar

The symbolic meaning of the Caterpillar teaches that you have a grand and beautiful expression to share with the world, you have things to teach, in ways that no one else can, this is your divine frequency, your divine essence that was born to be set free, born to be expressed.

There is a calling, an urging from deep within that sets the Caterpillar in motion to go into the cocoon.  You too have the same calling and urging, it is your sacred and divine life purpose waiting to be expressed.

The Caterpillar has appeared in your life to walk with you on this path of sacred transition.

On this path you will have to leave behind old ways, and old relationships that no longer serve you.  You will birth new wings of freedom, giving you the confidence to move forward in a new way of being and a new life.  Look upon the old ways as stepping stones that brought you to the new path, honor the lessons and the humble beginnings for they were the lessons you needed to set you free.

Caterpillar symbolism teaches the sacred lesson of having complete and total faith without any appearance of evidence.   Within the Caterpillar awaiting is the Butterfly.
